ISLAMABAD: Information Minister, Pervaiz Rashid said that following the retirement of General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has assumed the responsibility of acting Chairman Joints Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC). During a seminar held here on Tuesday, Rashid said the prime minister had the constitutional authority to appoint a new CJCSC within 30 days. The information minister added that there were procedures in the constitution regarding the appointment of a new Army chief and CJCSC. According to Rashid, such matters were not discussed anywhere else in the world, but in Pakistan they are debated. Speaking to media after the seminar, the information minister emphasized that the decisions of the All Parties Conference (APC) would be implemented.
